Shooting Incident Ruled a Homicide

A Buffalo woman who was shot in the face last Saturday morning by her boyfriend, died Tuesday at the Erie County Medical Center. 27 year old Bianca Leatherwood was shot in her Courtland Avenue apartment just after 11:45am Saturday morning. Her boyfriend, 25 year old Jonathon D. Price of Wood Avenue, was arrested and originally charged with attempted murder and first degree assault by Buffalo Homicide Detectives.

Chief of Detectives, Dennis J. Richards, said charges are likely to be upgraded. Richards also said the investigation is ongoing.

Buffalo Police were called to the 200 block of Courtland Avenue just before noon on Saturday. Police discovered that the 27 year old victim had been shot in the face. She was rushed to ECMC where she initially was listed in critical condition.

Investigating the incident are Detectives Reginald Minor and Scott Malec, assisted by Sgt. Jonathan Walton and Detectives James Lema and Noreen Walsh of the Homicide Squad.

This is the 9th homicide in the city of Buffalo in 2008. Last year Buffalo recorded 15 homicides through the first 4 months of 2007.
