Three of Buffalo's Most Wanted Captured

In the last two weeks, Buffalo Police have arrested three of Buffalo's" 10 most wanted fugitives." Buffalo Police have arrested Majere Smikle, Anthony Lipscomb and Anthony Maund, charging each of them with felony level charges. "This listing of wanted suspects has been highly successful, since its implementation in August of 2007. We have arrested nearly half of the people on the watch list, each month. With the increased viewing audience, we will undoubtedly have even more success," said Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards.

Seventeen year old Majere Smikle was picked up Sunday afternoon after detectives from the Buffalo Police Mobile Response Unit and members of the Buffalo Police SWAT Team executed a search warrant on Dartmouth Avenue. Smikle has been a "person of interest" in a number of felonious activities. He was charged with first degree robbery, on an outstanding warrant, according to Richards, and faces other charges stemming from multiple investigations.

Police arrested a second dangerous felon, when they caught up Anthony Lipscomb. He had been on the top 10 most wanted list for weapons possession and resisting arrest. His picture on the most wanted list was spotted by an alert citizen, who notified Erie County Probation Department investigators with information leading to his arrest.

Suspect Anthony Maund was charged in connection with several burglary and grand larceny investigations, after task force officers received a tip as to his whereabouts. He was arrested without incident.

The fugitive felon list has been highly successful in the Buffalo area, since its inception. It was instituted by members of Operation IMPACT, including the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Task Force, in conjunction with the United States Marshal's Service and other area law enforcement agencies, as well as Crimestoppers of Western New York.

IMPACT stands for Integrated Municipal Police Anti-Crime Teams, and is funded through the state's Division of Criminal Justice Services.
