Suspect Arrested in Alleged Beating Death

A 40 year old Buffalo man is under arrest, in connection with the alleged beating death of a man earlier this month. Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives arrested David McCallum and charged him in the murder of James Urbinato.

District Police Officers responded to a call around 11:30am on February 8th. Police were called to the scene in the 800 block of East Eagle Street and discovered Urbinato had been beaten. The victim was rushed to the Erie County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on February 11th. Homicide Detective Sergeant James P. Lonergan and Detectives William C. Donovan, James Lema and Mark J. Vaughn investigated the circumstances that eventually led to McCallum becoming the main suspect.

McCallum turned himself in at Police Headquarters last Thursday evening. McCallum has been booked and charged with murder in the second degree. Additionally, McCallum was charged with an outstanding Buffalo City Court warrant for reckless endangerment.
