Home » Press Releases » Current News » BPD Search for Vehicle in Hit and Run of Woman in Wheelchair BPD Search for Vehicle in Hit and Run of Woman in WheelchairBuffalo Police Accident Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying a black 2004 -2009 Dodge Durango that is being described as a "vehicle of interest" in connection with a hit and run accident that left a woman seriously injured.On Wednesday January 16th, at around 1:15pm, a woman in a motorized wheelchair was returning home from bible school at Mt. Olive Church on E. Delavan and as she was crossing north in the crosswalk at Appenheimer St. at Fillmore Avenue, a vehicle struck her and knocked her off her wheelchair. Police say the "vehicle of interest" then backed up in an attempt to go around her but struck her again as the victim pleaded for the driver to stop. The black Dodge Durango, with front end damage, then fled east on Appenheimer dragging parts of the wheelchair underneath it. A video camera captured video images of the vehicle as it fled the scene. The 61 year old female victim of Buffalo, was hospitalized at ECMC , before being discharged on Wednesday.Police are asking for help from any auto repair, salvage yard or parts supplier who may have had contact or worked on a vehicle matching this description since the date of the accident.
