Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives have arrested a suspected in connection with the shooting of a wheelchair-bound victim Sunday afternoon on Langfield Drive. Late this morning Homicide Detectives arrested 21 year old Ronnie Austin of Ericson Avenue and charged him with attempted murder in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree.

Detective Sergeant Dave Lillis along with Detectives William Donovan and Mark Lauber spotted the suspect near the intersection of Bailey Avenue and Wecker just after 11am this morning. That’s when Detectives jumped out of their vehicle and apprehended Austin. Austin was armed at the time, in possession of a loaded pistol.

Detectives believe Austin shot 31 year old Jamal Watts just before 2pm Sunday in the 300 block of Langfield Drive. Watts is currently recovering at the Erie County Medical Center and is listed in fair condition.

Austin is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in Buffalo City Court.
