Update: Suspect Charged in May Street Double Homicide

A man recently living in Del City Oklahoma was returned to Buffalo, charged in an Erie County Grand Jury indictment warrant, with several murder counts, as well as one count of attempted murder and possession of a loaded firearm.
Buffalo police allege that 23 year old Christopher J. Perkins Jr. killed Benjamin Gerald, 31 and Deverin L. White, 30, on August 23rd, around 1am on May Street.
The vehicle in which they were passengers was fired upon, crashed and flipped over.
Homicide Squad detectives began building a case against the suspect, who apparently left Buffalo for Oklahoma after the incident.
Homicide Squad Sergeant Carl A. Lundin and Detective Scott R. Malec were assisted in their search for the suspect by members of the US Marshal's Service Violent Felony Warrant Squad.
Perkins waived extradition proceedings, and was returned to Buffalo, to face the indictment warrant charges, as well as two other warrants for minor traffic and marihuana violations in Buffalo.
He had a court appearance before State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia, who ordered him held without bail, Friday.
Ferry-Fillmore District police responding to a call about the shootings and crash just after 1 a.m., found that the victims were passengers in a red Chevrolet, which crashed and flipped over, with White declared dead at the scene.
Gerald died later that morning, at the Erie County Medical Center, after surgery.
