Buffalo Police Welcome Over 30 New Recruits

Mayor Byron W. Brown and Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda welcomed 32 new recruits to the department during an afternoon swearing-in ceremony at police headquarters.

With family and friends looking on, Commissioner Derenda administered the oath of office to the police recruits who will now begin six months of basic training at the academy.

Since 2005 overall crime in the city of Buffalo has fallen by 25%. Mayor Brown credited the hard work of Buffalo police officers in helping to reduce crime.
