BPD Seek Hit ‘n Run Driver on Bailey Avenue

The Buffalo Police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating an early morning hit and run accident.

The incident occurred just after 12:30am Sunday morning on Bailey Avenue near Roosevelt.

Investigators say a 40 year old Niagara Falls man was crossing Bailey Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle. Police say the vehicle may've been traveling at a high rate of speed.

According to Lt. Thomas J. Leatherbarrow, Commander of the Accident Investigation Unit, the vehicle is described as maroon in color with yellow NYS plates.

Lt. Leatherbarrow said the car should have front end damage to the drivers side.

A City of Buffalo surveillance camera shows the vehicle just before the accident.

The victim was transported to ECMC with multiple injuries and is listed in critical condition.
