BPD Make Arrest in Tonawanda Street Homicide

Buffalo police arrested a suspect earlier today, who was sought for the stabbing death of 20 year old Roberto Leon of Buffalo, two months ago.

Angel Lozada, 17 years old, had been the subject of a police pick up order, since shortly after the stabbing, which occurred on Tonawanda Street February 23rd.

Lozada was located by members of the US Marshal's Service Felony Fugitive Task Force, including Buffalo Police Detectives Brendan J. Kiefer and William J. Cooley.

The suspect was taken into custody and turned over to Homicide Squad detectives for questioning at police headquarters. After conferring with the district attorney's office detectives charged Lozada with murder in the second degree.

Sergeant James P. Lonergan and Detectives Mario T. Pratts and Antonio Borrelli investigated the stabbing which resulted in Roberto Leon's death in the 400 block of Tonawanda Street around 11pm.

Police had been actively searching for the suspect, who was featured in media reports seeking the public's help in locating Lozada.
