Puppy that was Burned Continues to be Treated

Buffalo police announced that they've arrested two individuals in connection with the puppy "Phoenix" who was set on fire in late October.

Police announced on Wednesday, November 14th, that they've arrested 17 year old Diondre Brown of Buffalo and 19 year old Adell Zeigler of Buffalo and charged them both with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

The incident happened on Monday, October 29th at about 5pm on Herman Street, when police say the two doused the dog with lighter fluid and set it on fire.

Commissioner Daniel Derenda said tips from the community helped police in solving the case.

Detectives Charles Militello and Marvin Sanford were the arresting officers.

The 4 month old Jack Russell Terrier continues to recover at the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital.

The Jack Russell Terrier puppy has been given the name "Phoenix". According to the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital the 16 week old male puppy still has a long road ahead as far as recovery goes.

The puppy suffered burns to almost 100 percent of his body early Monday evening on Herman Street.
