Murder Suspect Caught in Cleveland

Buffalo police have tracked down a homicide suspect in Cleveland in connection with a fatal stabbing. 25 year old Anthony Williams has been charged regarding the stabbing death of Michael A. Ballard Jr., who was fatally attacked last Friday evening.

Around 11:30 pm, Friday, Northeast District officers responded to a person stabbed call, and learned that the 23 year old victim had been stabbed multiple times, in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue. The victim had been taken to Sisters of Charity Hospital, by a friend, but he was declared dead at the hospital.

Buffalo police were able to develop a person of interest in the investigation, and eventually learned that the suspect was headed to Cleveland, by bus. "Buffalo Homicide Squad detectives contacted the Cleveland Police Department, to check their bus station, and they located the suspect, and took him into custody without incident, around 5:30 Sunday evening," according to Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives.

Cleveland authorities reported finding the suspect on a bus that was ultimately headed to Las Vegas.

The suspect had been held in Cleveland, awaiting extradition.
