BPD Make Arrest in Stabbing Death
Buffalo police have arrested a woman for the stabbing death of her long-time boyfriend, during an argument. Emergency crews responded to a call of a "person stabbed" at 22 Gerhardt St., in the upper apartment, at around 9:15 Sunday night. Responding firefighters and Ferry-Fillmore District police found the 59 year old victim, Ronald Wilson, had been stabbed in the chest. The victim was taken to Erie County Medical Center, but he was declared dead on arrival. Officers Brian O. Griffin and Dennis R. Gilbert, assisted by Lieutenant Richard J. Bartoszewicz took the suspect into custody, and requested the Homicide Squad to respond to the scene. Arrested is Darleen Benson, 54, who resides at that address. She is also known as Darlene B. Seay, and she has been charged with murder in the second degree. "The two were involved in an altercation, which was fueled by alcohol and drug use, which ultimately resulted in the loss of a life," according to Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives. Benson was arraigned in Buffalo City Court this morning, and was held at the Erie County Holding Center without bail, pending further court proceedings. Assisting in the investigation were Detective Sergeant James P. Lonergan, and Detectives Scott R. Malec, Patricia Wrest, Christopher F. Sterlace and Jeff R. Weyand.
