BPD Investigating Discovery of Dead Body in Bailey-Delavan Area

January-12-2012 — Buffalo police are investigating the discovery of a dead body early Thursday afternoon in the city's Bailey Avenue-Delavan area. Northeast District officers initially responded to the call at approximately 1PM at a home in the first block of Roebling Avenue. "A deceased 57 year old male resident - who lived alone in the residence, was discovered by family members, who contacted authorities," according to Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives. There were indications that the house was ransacked, according to Richards.

The Homicide Squad and Crime Scene Unit personnel were called to the scene, and continue to investigate what happened. An autopsy will be conducted at the Erie County Morgue, to determine the cause of death.
