BPD Investigate if Bank Robberies are Connected

February-23-2012 — The Bank of America branch at 420 Main Street was robbed Wednesday afternoon, February 22nd, by a black male, about 5'7" tall, dressed in a dark puffy vest, with a moustache and facial hair. The suspect also wore a green colored hat with fur trim on it.

Buffalo police believe he is the same man who robbed the Northwest Savings Bank branch at 295 Main Street yesterday morning.

Around 2:40 pm Wednesday, the lone male suspect entered the Bank of America branch, and passed a note to a teller, demanding money. The suspect fled the bank in an unknown direction, with an undisclosed amount of cash.

"There are similarities in the robbery suspect's description, as well as the method of operation in both of these bank robbery incidents," according
to Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives.   "No weapon was displayed in
this most recent robbery," Richards added.

The Northwest branch robbery occurred around 10:00am Tuesday.

Anyone with information regarding either of these incidents is asked to call the Confidential TIPCALL Line at 847-2255 or Text a Tip at
