Mayor Byron Brown Announces Arrest in Fatal Shooting of 15 year old Girl

Mayor Byron W. Brown announced this morning that Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of 15 year old Dominique Maye last fall.

Wednesday evening, detectives arrested 24 year old Kevin J. Davis II of Gesl Street in Buffalo and charged him with Murder in the 2nd Degree.

Police say the incident occurred on the night of September 30th, 2010, when Maye was shot in her Hewitt Avenue home at around 8:45pm while at her computer.

On that night, Northeast District officers responded to the area for calls regarding multiple shots being fired. Crime scene Unit personnel retrieved evidence indicating more than a dozen shots were fired from an assault rifle at the house.

Shortly after the shooting, homicide detectives identified Davis as a possible suspect. A BOLO was put out in late January leading to his arrest Wednesday evening at around 6:30pm.

Ferry-Fillmore District officers, Northeast District officers and the entire homicide squad all played key roles in the arrest.

Detective Sgt. James Lonergan led the investigation.
