BPD Investigate Fatal Shooting of East Side Deli Owner

Buffalo police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a local store owner at Masten Avenue and Riley Street, around 7:15pm, Friday night, May 6th.

Police confirmed the identity of the victim as 48 year old Ali Hababi.

"The victim was shot while inside the store at 177 Riley Street, after a pair of black males, believed to be in their teens entered the store, one of them armed with a handgun," according to Dennis J. Richards, Chief of Detectives.

The suspects were further described as wearing hooded sweatshirts, one dark and the other wearing a white hoodie with a green bandana.

The victim died at the scene, after several shots were fired. The two suspects fled on foot, north on Masten Avenue, then west on Laurel Street immediately after.
