Mid-August Shooting Turns Fatal

Buffalo police confirmed that a shooting incident nearly  two weeks ago has turned fatal.

23 year old Spencer Cowart died, late Thursday evening, at Erie County Medical Center, where he had been confined since August 14th.

Cowart, from the city's Riverside section was shot in the head and rushed to Erie County Medical Center around 11:30PM on August 14th, while in the vicinity of 43 Sattler Avenue.

"16 year old Darryl Tarver has already been charged with attempted murder and assault in that investigation.  The charges will likely be upgraded due to the death of the victim," said Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards. Tarver remains confined to the Erie County Holding Center, awaiting further court proceedings.

Homicide Squad Detectives Scott R. Malec, Patrick J. Judge, Reginald Minor, Michael Acquino and Michael A. Mordino conducted the investigation which led to the arrest.
