Mayor Brown and BPD Announce Arrest of City Grill Suspect

BUFFALO – Mayor Byron Brown today announced that the Buffalo Police Department has charged 23 year-old Riccardo McCray, of East Ferry Street, with four counts of murder in the second degree, for his role in the shootings outside of City Grill that took four lives and injured four others.

“The Buffalo Police Department has worked 24/7 since this tragic incident occurred back on August 14, 2010 to bring the individual into custody,” said Mayor Byron Brown. “This should be a clear signal to anyone who engages in any kind of criminal activity that they will be pursued relentlessly, arrested, prosecuted, and sent to jail.”

McCray surrendered without incident early Wednesday afternoon.

Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said “Our detectives tracked every lead possible from witnesses who came forward to give the Department valuable information. Our investigation was nonstop and we put relentless pressure until the individual turned himself in.”

The Buffalo Police Department and its homicide detectives worked closely with many other law enforcement agencies, including the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Detective Sergeant James P. Lonergan and detectives Michael Acquino and Michael Mordino took McCray into custody when he surrendered this afternoon.
