BPD Release Photo of Suspect in Homicide Case
Buffalo police are hunting for a suspect in the city's most recent homicide case.
Just before 7pm Wednesday evening, Northeast District officers responded to a call of a fight in an upper apartment in the first block of Lonsdale Road. Officers found the victim, 48 year old Sammy Cooley bleeding profusely from the neck. The victim was rushed to Erie County Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his wounds. He is the 51st homicide victim this year. Crime Scene Unit and Homicide detectives were called to the scene and conducted an immediate investigation. A suspect in this fatal incident has been identified as Dwain Walker, a black male, 41 years old. The suspect was known to have last lived on Kingsley Street, but efforts to locate him have proven negative, so far. Walker is described as 6'3" and 190 pounds. "There is reason to believe that the suspect may also have been injured, and may seek medical attention," said Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives. Walker is believed to have fled the scene on foot. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dwain Walker is asked to call 911 immediately.
