BPD Make Arrest in Hit and Run of a Pregnant Woman

Buffalo Police have made an arrest in connect with the hit and run case involving a pregnant Buffalo woman.

Earlier today, police along with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, arrested 35 year old Andrew Siwy of Orchard Park, NY and charged him with: Leaving the scene of an injury accident.

The incident happened on Monday morning, May 17th at approximately 8am.

Authorities say that Siwy, while operating a Ford 350 truck, struck 44 year old Lynette Venezia of South Buffalo while she was crossing the street at Abbott Rd. and Lorraine Avenue.

Witnesses told police at the scene that immediately following the accident, Siwy got out of his vehicle and then got back in and left the scene.

With the help of witnesses and tips, police were able to make the arrest.

South District Detective Mark Fitzpatrick is credited with making the arrest.

The investigation consisted of the Buffalo Police AIU, South District police and the Erie County D.A’S office.
