BPD Alert Pizza Delivery Drivers

Buffalo police are investigating the robbery of a pizza delivery driver that occurred Monday night, January 18th, at around 8:15pm in the Donovan Drive housing complex in the city's Ferry-Grider neighborhood. The victim, who works for Zipp's Pizza on Grant Street, was approached by two armed suspects, as he was waiting outside of an apartment to make a delivery.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim's cell phone. They also took a cell phone from a female who was a passenger in the delivery vehicle. Both suspects are described as black males, wearing all black clothing and bandanas. They fled on foot, from the robbery scene.

Buffalo police continue to investigate this latest incident and are looking into the possibility that the robbery is related to other recent crimes involving delivery drivers.

Police continue to remind delivery personnel to take precautions, including:

  • Asking for a call back number when taking orders and then verifying that number.
  • Drivers should be aware of their surroundings.
  • If a delivery location appears to be vacant, drivers should not exit their vehicles.
  • Avoid areas that are not well lit.
  • As much as possible, avoid late night deliveries.
