City Surveillance Camera Video Instrumental in Fatal Stabbing Arrest
Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives have arrested a 28 year old Buffalo man in connection with a fatal stabbing over the Halloween week-end. Detectives arrested 28 year old Todd R. Heatley of Main Street and charged him with Murder in the 2nd degree in the death of 19 year old Jacob Herbert of Clarence. The incident occurred early last Saturday morning at approximately 4:30am in the 100 block of Lisbon Avenue. Police believe a fight or dispute broke out as people were leaving a house party that had twice previously been broken up by police. Detectives say that Heatley stabbed Herbert multiple times while the two were outside. Herbert was rushed to ECMC but later died. Video from a City Surveillance Camera located at Lisbon Avenue and Cordova Avenue played a key role in helping to solve the case. The video, along with information from witnesses and detailed police work, allowed detectives to make an arrest just one week after the incident. Detective Sgt. Daniel Rinaldo led the investigation. Detectives assisting in the investigation include, Mary Gugliuzza, Mark Lauber, Mario Pratts and Noreen Walsh.
