BPD Solve City's 6th Homicide of 2009

Buffalo Police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a 76 year old woman. Police have arrested 45 year old Earl Gill of 100 East Tupper and charged him with two counts of murder in the 2nd degree and one count of burglary in the 1st degree.

Central District Police responded to a call around noon on Tuesday, regarding a dead body at 587 North Oak. They discovered Marlene J. Johnson dead, in the bedroom of her apartment, where she lived alone.

Homicide squad and crime scene personnel were summoned to the scene and an investigation commenced immediately.

“There were signs of a forcible entry into the victim’s apartment”, according to Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards. An autopsy was conducted Wednesday morning, at the Erie County Medical Center, and the case is being investigated as the city’s 6th homicide this year.

Detective Sgt. James Lonergan led the investigation. Assisting were Detectives; James Lema, Scott Malec, Reginald Minor and Mark Vaughn.
