BPD Continue Narcotics Crackdown in the City

Laird Raid

Buffalo Police Narcotics Squad Detectives led by Lieutenant Paul R. Delano Jr. executed a search warrant late Monday night , November 9th, in the city's Riverside section, and arrested the resident - John Rickard, who lived in the 200 block of Laird St.

Rickard is charged with felony drug counts, as well as criminal possession of a stolen handgun. Police also seized a shotgun and rifle at the residence. Over 4.5 ounces of powder cocaine - with estimated street value of exceeding $16,000.00 was confiscated, and over $58,000.00 cash.

"The drugs, the cash and the weapons are indicative of what our officers are encountering on a regular basis, during their covert investigations.

This demonstrates the profit potential of unlawful narcotics dealing, as well as the fact that illegal weapons are being used in the drug trade," said Dennis J. Richards, Chief of Detectives. This investigation was a result of citizen complaints, leading up to the execution of a search warrant signed by City Court Judge Debra Givens.

"Our department continues to obtain very valuable information through our confidential TIPCALL number 847-2255, the Mayor's resolution 311 phone center, council member complaints, block clubs and information from neighbors," Richards said. You can also e-mail a tip in the Report a Tip section.
