BPD Break Case on Car Break-ins

Over the week-end, Buffalo Police arrested an individual they believe is responsible for at least dozens of car break-ins in and around the Tifft Farm area over the last year. Arrested and charged was 47 year old Edwin Cosme of Buffalo. Cosme was charged with numerous counts of grand larceny, petit larceny, and criminal mischief.

Cosme was also charged with numerous motor vehicle violations including driving with out valid registration and with out insurance.

Cosme was arrested Saturday afternoon on Fuhrmann Blvd at around 4:30pm. Cosme was initially arrested on a charge of operating an unlicensed vehicle. As a result of the police investigation, officers were able to locate property which had been previously reported stolen in 2007 as well as this year.

Cosme faces a slew of felony and misdemeanor charges as a result of these car break-ins. Police believe Cosme is responsible for taking credit cards, purses, cellphones and GPS units.

"A" District Detectives continue their investigation although some of the stolen property has already been recovered by Buffalo Police. Officers Mark Andrzejak and Kevin Kennedy made the arrest.

Anyone seeking information regarding these possible thefts should call "A" District Police at 851-4415.
