BPD Make Arrest in Prospect Ave Homicide

Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with Thursday afternoon's fatal shooting on Prospect Avenue. Detectives arrested 52 year old George L. Harris of Prospect Avenue and charged him with second degree murder in the shooting death of his step-son, 32 year old Thomas Liberatore.

Chief of Detectives, Dennis J. Richards, said the two were arguing before Harris shot Liberatore inside  the home on Prospect Avenue. Liberatore was declared dead at the scene.

Officers Shelly A. Strobele, Colleen M. Leatherbarrow and Lori A. Kmidowski of the Central District took Harris into custody. Inside the two story dwelling, in the basement, police found the 32 year old victim, apparently shot twice.

Homicide Squad Sgt. James P. Lonergan, and Detectives James Lema, William C. Donovan, and Mark J. Vaughn participated in the investigation and arrest of the suspect. The suspect is married to the victim's mother. Harris was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Buffalo City Court.
