BPD Investigate Fatal Double Shooting

Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives are investigating a fatal double shooting that happened Thursday evening on Poultney Avenue. One man is dead, while another man remains in critical condition at the Erie County Medical Center. The incident happened just after 9pm inside a home in the 100 block of Poultney Avenue.

Police say 25 year old Thomas Swan of Poultney Avenue died at the scene. The other victim, 34 year old Shannon Gaines of Buffalo was taken to ECMC, where he's listed in critical condition.

Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards said a motive for the shooting is under investigation. Richards also said two suspects apparently fled the scene on foot.
