Buffalo Police Chief Makes Good for MDA

Buffalo Police “A” District Chief, Brian Strobele, got a taste of being “locked up” on Tuesday August 12. But it was all for a good cause. Chief Strobele was taken away from the “A” District Station on South Park Avenue in South Buffalo, and transported to Pettibones Grille. Chief Strobele was “put behind bars” until he could reach his goal of $1600. The event is done annually by organizers to help raise money to send ‘Jerry’s Kids’ to the MDA Summer Camp.

Chief Strobele was extremely proud and honored to take part in the event. The money raised will help send at least two children to MDA Summer Camp and he will receive his own ‘Oscar’ award for his generous deed as part of the “Buffalo’s Red Carpet Premiere” to help fight MDA.

Terrance Roberts, the District Director of the Buffalo MDA, spearheaded the event at the downtown restaurant and says the event has been held locally for at least 15 years. Each dollar raised, meant that Chief Strobele was closer to his goal. He called family members, friends and co-workers to help put him over the top. The first call that he made to “get out of jail” was to Buffalo Police Commissioner H. McCarthy Gipson.

Chief Strobele said, “This is a great cause and I have three healthy, beautiful daughters and it is an amazing thing to do. It is also a great opportunity to contribute to help find a cure.”

There are ten types of Muscular Dystrophy diseases, to learn more information about them is provided in this link.
