BPD Continue to Investigate City's 14th Homicide

The body of a black female was found, deceased in a grassy field Thursday morning, in a vacant lot in the 500 block of Walden Ave. The discovery was made at approximately 9:15AM.

The black female was discovered by a state police cadaver dog, and his handler, who were assisting the Buffalo police homicide squad and C District officers in the search.

The identity of the individual found has not been confirmed at this time. "Pending a positive identification of the victim, we are not releasing a name," said Dennis J. Richards, Chief of Detectives. An autopsy conducted at the Erie County Medical Center confirmed that the victim had died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

This is the city's fourteenth homicide this year.

Buffalo police are investigating any connection with yesterday's discovery and a homicide which occurred last month. "Homicide detectives are looking into the possibility that this murder and that of Raymond Johnson may be connected," Richards said. Johnson was killed on the night of May 7th, in the vicinity of 35 Rapin St.
