Crime Update for Thursday, October 18th


Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives are investigating the discovery of a body found along vacant property above railroad tracks near Dewey St. and Canton Alley on the city's East side. The discovery was made around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. The body is believed to be a male in his 20's. Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards said the body was discovered underneath a pile of tires. Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. Richards said an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Earlier in the day, Homicide Detectives along with Officers from "B" District Police, were called to 640 Ellicott Street just before 5am. A 26 year old male is in critical condition at ECMC after Authorities believe he entered the old TRICO Building at 640 Ellicott by unknown means and once inside attempted to remove copper. The suspect accidentally touched an electrical transformer box and was electrocuted. The suspect was taken to ECMC by Rural Metro Ambulance. The suspect suffered extensive burns to his body.
