Arrest Made in Fillmore Avenue Homicide

Buffalo Police have arrested 19 year old Kevin D. Rogers of Gibson Street in connection with Tuesday morning’s homicide at 880 Fillmore Avenue. Homicide Detectives arrested Rogers late Tuesday night and charged him with murder in the second degree in connection with the shooting death of 20 year old Derell B. Henley.

Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards characterized the incident as drug related and also said he believes the victim may have been targeted. Henley was shot around 11:30am Tuesday morning while walking out of the gas station at 880 Fillmore Avenue.

Almost immediately after the shooting, concerned citizens came forward with key information that eventually led to Rogers’ arrest. Detective Sgt. Dan Rinaldo led the investigation. He was joined by Detectives Mike Mordino, Pat Judge, Mike Acquino, Mark Vaughn, Mark Lauber, William Donovan, Denise Crawford and Noreen Walsh. Also assisting in the arrest were Officers from “C” District.

Rogers was arraigned earlier today in Buffalo City Court. He is scheduled to be back in court on November 13 at 9:30am.
