Home » Press Releases » 2007 News Archive » Crime Report for Thursday, October 25th Crime Report for Thursday, October 25thBuffalo Police made a quick arrest following a late night shooting on South Park Avenue. 23 year old Uda Hidalgo is charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing in the shooting of 26 year old Walter Herrera. The two live in seperate apartments at 547 South Park Avenue. Homicide Detectives say the two were arguing in the victim's upstairs apartment when Hidalgo shot him in the stomach. Hidalgo then fled in a silver vehicle but it didn't take long for Buffalo Police to catch up with him. Communication between Officers from "A" and "B" Districts led to the quick arrest. Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards said " Alert Officers from "B" District apparently spotted the vehicle from information relayed from "A" District Officers. The communication between Officers led to the suspect being pulled over at Niagara and Carolina Streets". Officers Michael Long and Michael Doctor from "B" District pulled over the suspect, Officer Melinda Vak then made the arrest. The victim, Walter Herrera, was taken to ECMC where he's been treated and released. Buffalo Police are also dealing with another shooting. This one just after 11pm Wednesday night on Newburgh. It appears the suspect walked up and started shooting at two men. One of the victims, Jamel Webster, is in fair condition at ECMC after being shot in the buttocks. The other person was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'10", wearing a gray jacket and blue baseball hat. The suspect fled on foot.
