West Side Murder Suspect Arrested

Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives have arrested a 22 year old suspect in connection with a summertime murder on the city's west side.With help from the New York State Violent Felony Warrant Squad, authorities arrested Kelvin Penaloza and charged him with the murder of 19 year old Abraham Carrasquillo.

Homicide Detectives believe Penaloza shot Carrasquillo while the victim was washing his car at a do-it-yourself carwash back on July 15th of this year at 363 Massachusetts Avenue.

The suspect was brought into custody by the Violent Felony Warrant Squad and then  handed over to Buffalo Homicide Detectives Thursday night. Penaloza was charged with second degree murder.

Chief of Detectives, Dennis J Richards, said the suspect was arraigned in Buffalo City Court earlier today. Penaloza's next court date is scheduled for December 26th in Erie County Court. Sgt. David Lillis and Detective Noreen Walsh played key roles in the investigation.
